Welcome to the
Town of Montana

Come prepared: No Gas, No Grub, No Beer

Come bear with us.

The big bucks are in our woods, not our pockets.

Who Are We?

The Town of Montana is hidden in the valleys of eastern Buffalo County, Wisconsin. Our residents are no-nonsense, common sense, friendly people with deep family roots. We are quick with a smile, plain-spoken, and not afraid to call a spade a spade. We relish our constitutional rights and we agree on the fundamentals: live free, work hard, and respect each other.

THE BASICS

Information that may be helpful.

Licenses and Permits

Montana is not part of county zoning, however there are other requirements on the state, county, and township level.

Examples are Uniform Dwelling Code, fire call numbers, driveway permits, septic, wells, bartender and liquor licenses.

Voting

Voting takes place at the town hall at S1601 County Road U. Non-partisan elections are in the spring with a February primary and April general.

Partisan elections are in the fall with an August primary and November general.

Agendas and Meetings

The town board usually meets on second Mondays at the town hall. State law requires the annual meeting on the third Tuesday of April.

The budget hearing and tax levy meeting is in November and the Board of Review is in May.
